My name is Sally Jackson Freeman and I have been working in the music industry since the 80’s. I started out as a runner in my Dad’s recording studio working with such iconic bands as Motorhead and have just completed a 10 year stint at Glastonbury in the Dance Field working with artists such as Stormzy and Fatboy Slim. In recent years I have lecturing on a masters course at Tileyard Studios, BIMM and had the privilege to mentor the next generation of music industry professionals around the world. Over the past 30 plus years in the music business I have pretty much seen and heard it all, the good, the bad and the ugly…. The one thing I know beyond doubt, is that behind every superstar, is a huge team of highly successful and talented individuals who help the artists realise and monetise their talent. I am interested in what makes these people successful and the journey’s they have been on to achieve their success. This podcast is dedicated to finding out what makes these people so successful and sharing their insider knowledge and tips with you. Abi Redd is a hugely creative Australian British music producer, songwriter and multi instrumentalist who started out as a drummer. This rhythmic basis created the perfect lead into music production and after completing musical studies at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, Abi decided to move to London to pursue her musical dream. In 2014 she was spotted by Hank Hughes, owner and director of Ealing Studio's F/H Block who gave her the use of a studio to work from to develop her skills. This year Abi completed her Masters degree at Tileyard Education and has recently started her own production company Abi X Audio.
Abi is a prolific song writer and creator and this year won the 2020 Focusrite Bursary at Tileyard Studios in London. I have had the pleasure of working with Abi for the past year and am happy to welcome her to the Secrets of Success Podcast to share about her life, the song writing process and becoming successful in the music business.

Episode 2 - This week my guest is Song Writer and Producer Ellis Miah from sunny Los Angeles.
Ellis co-wrote "Inner Child" for BTS’s album Map of the Soul: 7. The album was released on lock down it went to number 1 in over 80 Countries. The Album had 4 million pre-orders worldwide and Inner Child has had over 50 million plays on spotify to date.
BTS became the first Asian group to top the album charts in the top five music markets in the world—the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Germany, and France. We have not had this phenomenon in the Music industry since the Beatles!
Ellis is a Native new Yorker and now LA based Songwriter, producer and re-mixer. Ellis joins us this week from sunny Los Angeles on a break while he is recording in the studio.
Ellis has collaborated on hits for artists including Jennifer Lopez, Sia, Backstreet Boys, Christina Aguilera, Miley Cyrus, Annie Lennox, Loleatta Holloway, Yoko Ono and Sieeedah Garrett, to name a few!
Ellis has a gift for combining Pop, Soul, Hip-Hop and Dance that has given him success 22 times on the Billboard chats. He has toured internationally, securing many national TV sync placements including one of my favs Sex and the City.
Ellis has written and produced the majority of the songs on RuPaul’s Christmas Album, “Slay Belles,” which was voted Best Christmas Album by Entertainment Weekly.
During our chat, we reflected on those things that make you successful, the challenging times, his favourite Dr. Who, all things Money and how we can survive in these challenging times.
He is now continuing his relationship with the ever growing K-Pop and J-Pop market collaborating with writers, producers and artists around the world.

Secrets of Success with Music Producer Andy Wright.
I am so excited to welcome my first guest, my friend who I have known for the past 20 years, the super talented Andy Wright.
Andy is a global music producer and multi award winner.
He has won 2 grammy’s and has received Gold, Platinum and Multi Platinum Discs for his record sales.
He has worked with some iconic artists including Dave Stewart, Annie Lennox, Jeff Beck, Tom Jones, the KLF, Massive Attack, Atomic Kitten, Imogen Heap, Jon Bon Jovi, Alisha’s Attic and Pavarotti to name drop but a few.
Andy has produced rock giants Simple Minds and has been working with Simply Red since 1995 where he created the unique sounds and beats featured on Fairground – their first number one single.
I will be asking Andy about his career, the ups and downs in the inudstry and the secrets that make him successful.
